    Hello all,
This is my first post and my first project (a sub). I was wondering if I should use a plate amp on the back of the box or get a separate amp to look pretty on my rack?
I am leaning towards a separate amp, but they're so much more expensive. What are your thoughts/experiences?
Specific model reccomendations are also welcome. I need 100 - 200 watts.

As you can see, this amp is so inexpensive it's hard to pass up. Apex Jr. sells another Audiofile model.
    Thanks,
    Joel

  2. If all you need is 100-200watts, go with the plate! It would be far cheaper and make life easier.
Most of us that go with pro-amps are using atleast 500watts ..to upwards of 2000watts.
BUT!!!!...that amp you showed from e-bay isn't worth the UPS postage you'll have to pay to get it! It can probably do 100watts with 99% distortion!
spend a little more and get a much better plate amp.
    120W SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER @ PE for $99
    AMP130 @ stryke for $89
...and you already know about the apex jr.
