First Speaker Purchase (1 Viewer)

Hello and Happy New Year Everybody!!!

Just wanted to run a quick question by everyone...

I've got a friend who is interested in buying his first set of surround sound speakers (5.1). I said I would go shopping with him, but certainly don't want to steer him wrong. He would like to spend around $1800 at the very most.

Any suggestions on a good/great/amazing set of speakers he can get for that price range or less????
