I'm looking for advice on a firewire card and bundled software for video capture and editing . I'd like to stay under $100 but I'll consider more if that is my only good option. I'm purchasing a digital camcorder this week and I'd like to be able to download mpeg2 files and then burn to CDR (and someday DVDs):)
Thanks in advance for your comments.:D

Any firewire card under $100 uses Microsoft's DV codec, and usually will rely soley on that codec for playback (no camcorder assist in my experience). MS's codec, shall we say..leaves much to be desired.

Try the Pinnacle DV 200, I believe it's sub $200 now, and they have a solid codec and give you Adobe Premiere (a $500 value) free along with a ton of other useful software
