Here's is a funny piece from USA Today. I checked out the more expensive DVD of the two mentioned in the article and it's actually in anamorphic widescreen. It's kind of an amusing idea for those of us who don't have a fireplace.

Is there an option to not play music? Our local cable station runs the yule log every year, and I could see this being novel as long as it was crackling only.

I know for certain that the more expensive of the two (the one I mentioned in my initial post) can be set to play fireplace noises only. I'm not sure about the other one.

There's no danger of screen burn-in?

Marvin don't mean to roast you but - you're fired! [IMG]
This certainly would be a hot topic for being flamed...

This will be quite cool and my parents should get a kick out of it. The Yule Log has been missing for like 15 years and was quite a staple back in the day on WPIX 11 at the jersey shore on Christmas Eve...The days gone by...

    Oh the Yule Log!
God I miss Channel 11. Batman, Godzilla, UFO, Thunderbirds, and scary movies; hell even that stupid interactive PIX game. The old Channel 11. Nothing quite so New York in all its flavors. Right up there with Nathan's and celery soda.
The Yule Log is the stupidest piece of TV ever made but I love it anyway. Always fun to get baked [IMG] and try to find where it loops. [IMG]

I always see this in-stock at my local Best Buy ($17.99), for anyone who wants to just pick it up.
You guys have almost convinced me to buy it myself!

THIS ONE HERE comes with a "Video Aquarium Bonus".
Endorsed by Dan Rather. Now I MUST have it! [IMG]
(I'm not sure, though, how I can explain to the little tots how Santa gets down THIS chimney.) [IMG]

If "Fireplace" is anything like the trailer, it isn't what I'd want. The program that plays on TV with a static framing of a fireplace is what I'd be interested in, not some documentary style program, zooming in and panning across the fireplace.
The aquarium looks interesting too, but might scare my other fish...[IMG]
