Finding Dory Blu-ray Review

finddorytop-1024x576.jpg

With its funny and touching story this time focusing on the blue tang with short term memory loss, Finding Dory takes some of the best elements from Finding Nemo and adds some delightful new characters all sharing in Dory’s various adventures on the Pacific Coast of the United States.

Since this streets tomorrow, I thought I'd add a bonus clip to the review and bump it back to the front page.

Thanks, Matt.

I don't know how I let this happen...but I missed this in the theaters.

That's not all that uncommon for me. But this is a Pixar film I really wanted to see...in the theeater. It just didn't happen.

Oh well, it'll happen in the next few days. :D

And I am not surprised to see this disc get the kind of presentation grades from you which are typical for a Pixar disc.

This is one of the few Pixar movies I won't be adding to my collection. I know I'm definitely in the minority here - the reviews were great and all that - but my seven year old son and I found it to be majorly inferior to Finding Nemo, which has been his core film since he was about three. One of the few DVD's and blu-rays we've had to replace several times due to excessive wear on the disc! We just didn't connect with the sequel, we found it to be it one rollercoaster action set-piece after another, trying to outdo the momentum from the previous scene. By the time the last, extremely over-the-top sequence came up, we were just pummeled into submission - rather like after seeing a Michael Bay film! The 3D in the cinema was extremely good but spectacular visuals didn't move us as much as the story from the original. Looking forward to the Incredibles 2, though!

That's an interesting observation, Kevin. That was my exact complaint with Disney's recent live animation version of The Jungle Book. I'll report here what I think after eventually seeing the film.

I got the blu-ray of Finding Dory when it first came out, but until last night it was still in its shrink wrap. As my son was suffering from a migraine he wanted something relatively easy to watch, and we popped this one in and had a great time. We love the Sigourney Weaver bits, since we are huge Alien/Aliens fans.

As Matt H. says in his review: "Another winner for Pixar is the funny and touching Finding Dory, a film fully worthy of its illustrious, Oscar-winning parent movie. The reference quality video and audio quality is breathtaking...."

I remember being very underwhelmed and disappointed by this film. It felt like a direct to Video sequel and nowhere near the excellence of Finding Nemo.

Gotta watch it again to see if I like it better. I felt the same about Monsters University.
