I just got a pair of Maggie SMGa and can not believe my ears, when playing Diana Krall there is no comparison! However, I do think it needs more power. I am currently using a HK signature 2.1 which only has 100Wpc. And I am looking for a powerful amp that has 200wpc or more. I got my eyes on the carver tfm35X, is that a good choice for the SMG? or do you have any other choice around the same price?

    Thanks

I would choose a warmer amp to go with Maggies. Something like a Rotel, Parasound or a B&K in the 200W/ch range.

The Bryston 4B-SST would fit your needs nicely. Better than the 4B-ST

Is the HK rated 100wpc into 4 ohm?
If not you can add 50% minimum to that rating in 4ohm compare to 8.
Maybe it's more current you after, not sheer wattage?

You are right they are neutral to forward for my tastes, and I like my sound warm. Hence the statement.

    Hope that makes it clear.

    Martin,
I would recommend trying to find a used Classe 200 or 201. This amp would handle the Maggie’s fine and sound great.
