Well........after many upgrades ove the last few months.....I have literally gotten a new system with the exception of my TV and LD player.
I have re-done my web page and welcome any comments on what I could do to improve things as far as the actualy set-up is concerned.
Any helpful info would be greatly appreciate. The web site describes everything about my room size, wall construction, etc.
Here is the link or you can click the link in my signature.

Great gear! My only observations are:
    1) L/R speaker placement
    2) Center placement
With regards to the former, and not being familiar with ML's recommended placement, have you experimented bringing them forward. I would think that this would improve the soundstage dramatically as right now their dispersion is being truncated by the edge of the cabinet (which they sit behind). Also, given they are bipolar in design a little more breathing room behind my help smooth the reflections.
With regards to the latter, do you find that the center channel's rear dispersion bounces around a lot inside the surrounding cabinetry? My suggestion here would be to experiment with some type of absorptive material to see how it sounds. Fewer reflections may improve dialogue intelligibility.
    Nice work!

    Miles,
Well, we are on base housing. Bigger than most places available out in town, but still small from what we were used too back in the states. Can't wait to get back so I can buy an HDTV and get my satellite up again....I sure miss NFL Sunday Ticket. [IMG]
    Jay,
Your suggestions are duly noted. I have compromised a little on the L/R mains placement for 2 reasons. 1) If I moved them out much more they would block walkway space and 2) I have 2 kids aged 7 and 3.....the more out of the way they are the better. Hopefully when we get back to the states we can find a place that has a room where I can set up the mains on the short wall and they will be out of the way, therefore allowing for more breating room behind them. The panels are 2 feet from the rear wall as ML suggests that they be 2-3 feet.
As far as the center channel is concerned, I haven't noticed any reflections that really distract from the listening experience and the dialogue is fully intelligble. Crystal clear even. But I do plan on making 3 large wall treatments with decorative fabric to put behind both the mains and the center.
Thank you very much for the suggestions!

Scott, how and where did you find these over on the Rock? (or did you mail order them? talk about hellish shipping charges).
I bought my first HT receiver when I was stationed in Iwaskuni. Got a Yamaha for about half price of what it was in the States. (and free shipping, for it and the other equipment I got, back to CONUS).
Don't ever remember seeing MartinLogan and Sunfire, lots of Sony though. [IMG]

    Steve,
Well....I have paid a lot of shipping charges....LOL. That's one thing that sucks and also the reason why Aerious I's were the largest I could go. They barely made the USPS shipping restrictions. Here is how I acquired my stuff from here on "The ROCK":
Sunfire Theater Grand II - New on eBay for $2500
Sunfire Cinema Grand - New on Audiogon for $1700
Sunfire Sub Signature - New on eBay for $1275
Sony DVP-S7700 - New from Crutchfield for $550
Sony CDP-CX450 - New from Crutchfiel for $??? I forget off hand.
Monster HTS2500 - New on eBay for $195
ML Aerious I's - 1yr used on eBay for $1500
ML Cinema - 4 months used on eBay for $950
ML Scripts - New from dealer in LV. Due to my circumstances, he got permission from ML to ship to me overseas. Got them for $1575.
All products do have full warranty (confirmed with serial number to manufacturer). I have even already sent in my Theater Grand II to Sunfire to fix front panel display and while it was there they upgraded it to the latest software.
It sucks being over here, but when you got the addiction to upgrade.....being overseas isn't gonna stop you. [IMG]

    Scott,
Why don't you move your speakers out when you are ready to watch a movie or listen to music and move them back into their current space when they are idle.
Seems like a good compromise to me.

I've always liked the look of martin Logan speakers. If I didn't like the sound of my speakers so much, I would have gone with the ml's. Very nice setup. Especially for living over seas and having everything delivered. [IMG]

    Scott,
When you get back home you can buy a pair of Oddesseys and movie the Arieus to the sidea and have the Scripts as rears...

    Miles,
Actually, when I get back to the states I was planning to upgrade the fronts to Accents, move the Aerious I's to the rears, and move the Scripts to the sides or have them as center surrounds.....assuming that the Theater Grand III will be THX EX/DTS ES (which I'm told it will be).

Well, I moved my mains up apprx 6 inches so now none of the ELS panel is behind the entertainment center. I don't hear much of a difference. I'm going to go ahead and leave them like they are for a week or so before I make another adjustment. They'll probably end up staying where they are if the kids can avoid running into them. LOL [IMG]

Scott... Try and find a pair of used oddesseys... The Ascents don't have the forceforward bass in them... I think that I saw a pair of used Odds for about 4K, either that or wait for Tweeter to have their buy 1 get 50% off the other sale [IMG]
on another note I have my CLS's about 4ft from the rear wall...

OK....web site is back up. Apperantly, Geocities decided that I violated the terms of service and suspended my account. Well, I did not and after a week of e-mails back and forth......I won. All files were put back and the site is up and running again.
Sorry for those who attempted to see it and were unsuccessful. Enjoy!!

Evan......actually both my spouse and I weree in the military. Put it this way.....the military takes care of dual active duty couples. Plus.....my wife out ranked me by a large margian.
To be honest though......I recently got out of the Marine Corps and now I am just a home dad until we go back to the states next year. Then......I plan on starting my own business.
