Ok all -
After months of research and reading thread after thread I am ready to upgrade my current sub. I will be upgrading from a 10" KLH costco sub (about 80 Watts on its very best day ever!) to a PB2+ (99% sure). I know there are a lot of threads here asking this same type question but I am such a cautious buyer that I really like to get as many opinions as possible, and I really trust and value the opinions of the highly knowledgable people on this forum! I just want to make sure that I get a sub that I can have plenty of headroom with. I love being able to say, "Well, I could turn it way up if I wanted to".
Ok - down to the nitty gritty:
Room is 12X20 with 8 foot ceiling - 1920 ft3
Opening in back side of room about 9 feet wide by 8 feet high
Carpet floors
Current equipment:
Denon 3802
Mits WS55413
Sony DVD Not sure - 715P I think
Outdated and insufficient Cervin Vega center and mains
(will be upgrading to B&W 600 series in the next few months)
80% HT use/ 20% music

So what do you guys think? Will this sub be enough to knock my socks off?

P.S. - I plan to email the guys over at SVS to get their opinions as well, but I wanted to get as much input as possible. Thanks!

Joe,

The question is how large is that space your listening area opens up to. It's a big opening, so you need to consider it as part of your overall cubic footage.

BTW, where in AZ are you?

My room is 14*24*8, opens up to a 11*21 kitchen on one end and the front of the house where there's a 30' cathedral ceiling, on the other.

My PB2-ISD scoffs at it. It rocks the house.

Joe,
It's odd because we both have similar systems.

I own a Mits 55413.
I owned a set of Cerwin vega mains and center(now in the garage...) replaced by a full 7.1 system from Phase Tech
and I'm considering an SVS(PB2+).

A PB2+ would be overkill but you can always turn it down. Headroom is nice.

The only differences between us is my room is twice the size...
