My wife has very little understanding for the love that is my home theater. She said it's nice, but never cared. She just wondered why I needed a new tv when my 9year old 52" is still working. But, she didn't stop me when I ordered my new Toshiba 65" widescreen (hdx82) set. Well, after doing minor corrections to the settings I tested the tv with Toy Story 2. After some convincing. I got her down the the basement where my home theater is set up. She kept saying "Wow, that looks great". Could it be? A convert to my hobby? Probably, not. But, she did think it was really cool. Alright, a small battle was won. [IMG]

Now find out what her favorite movie is that's available on DVD, and surprise her with it on the new setup. THAT is a good way to get the missus on your side! Involve her!

Sleepless In Seatlle is always a winner in getting them over to our way of thinking. Although Titanic would probably show off the system more[IMG]

I think the You've Got Mail transfer is terrific - also Notting Hill will be a great choice (I like it too)
    Cheers

When the missus and I popped Fellowship of the Ring in, that big opening battle scene started and she turned to me and said: "Yeah, I can see where this would look better on a big screen TV."

    Woohoo!

There must be something in the air, because lately my wife has been showing interest in a dedicated home theater room. We're trying to sell our home and with every house we look at, one of the first things out of her mouth is "This room would make a great Home Theater." This would never have happened a few years ago. (Doing best impression oif 9-year old Anakin Skywalker) Yippee!!

    Dean was being sarcastic.
When Harry Met Sally has a nice transfer. Beautiful fall foliage.
I will also second the nod on Notting Hill and Youve' Got Mail.

Sense and Sensibility. Above-average transfer, extremely well-made period drama. Ang Lee directs Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet and what's-his-name with the hair and the stammer. Gorgeous costumes and some nice English countryside scenery.

What you need is Out of Africa. But then again I always root for a film where Robert Redford plays a character named Dennis.....[IMG]

The Princess Bride is always a good choice. It's one of my wife's favorite movies and it's one that I don't mind watching at all.
Action, adventure, comedy and the lovey dovey stuff is there to.

When I went looking at CRT projectors years ago I brought my soon-to-be wife with me. She was as floored as I was by the picture quality and the size! Despite what they tell you, SIZE DOES MATTER!!
