Next November is the 30th Anniversary of the incident. Maybe Paramount could wait and do somehting special for the dvd. Or now that they have not delayd this release, they still might re-visit it.
At long last, I ordered the Region 1 Version of Fire In The Sky and it arrived here at my home in Northern Ireland today. pretty quick, since its not out offiialy untill October 19th.
Paramount have done a suberb job on both picture and sound. The anamorphic widescreen is beautiful and delivers. The picture is great. The 5.1Dolby Digital sound is amazing. Eespecially at the opening credits and the abduction scene.
This is well worth the wait.
Bad Points! A trailer would have been nice. There is No inlay card, and my cover is French/Canadian.
Is there any chance for a re-release of this movie or are we stuck with this one? Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I've been mulling over picking this release up recently.
I see no reason why they would re-release it anytime soon. Paramount especially is stingy with re-releases, only recently having joined the double dip movement, and only for DVDs that were released in the early days of 1997-1999, like Ferris Bueller and Footloose.
What I want is the 1978 made-for-TV movie A FIRE IN THE SKY, starring Richard Crenna. I saw that when it first aired, loved it, and haven't seen it since.
I was hoping for at least a trailer for this movie, but I guess this barebones release will have to do. It's avialable for really cheap so a double-dip wouldn't hurt that much, but still. It's a great little film, without a doubt.
God I hope for a new release for this movie. Its great to see that there is still some intrest in this little movie. I read the book that walton penned and in it he says there was a 2 hour documentry made of the film wich you could buy on vhs direct from walton. Now if that where on the dvd along with a commentary and a trailer and a DTS track, we are laughing.
