The gist...all Gamecube developers now have access to Factor 5's MusyX tool to encode games in DPL II.

I would have to say "VERY GOOD!" It might not be 5.1, but its the best thing available, and now its available to all (game developers).

I haven't really followed all the DPL II info - doesn't this require that your receiver have DPL II capabilities? The article makes it sound as if it works with any DD 5.1 setup.

Yes, your receiver has to be designed for DPL2.
