Final Cut

    Contractually if a director has "final cut" does this mean the theatrical release is the director's cut?

    Not necessarily. There may be rating requirements in the contract as well that override this.

    Huh??

    Unless I was hallucinating The Dreamers was released as an uncut, NC-17 rated film.

    The article was written around November of last year (see the link). I believe the conflict over The Dreamers wasn't resolved until shortly before its early 2004 release here in the U.S..
