I'd like to join or contribute to a Film Preservation Society. Anyone know of a good one?

I believe the AFI would be a good place to start.

Don't forget the good 'ol Library of Congress! These guys take care of more classic films than you can imagine. They do a fantastic job with almost no money. Federal funding has been cut to the bare minimum, unfortunately, and a lot of their staff is paid by the studios. If you ever get the chance to visit their facility in Dayton, OH, do so. It's an eye-opener. I had the amazing privilege of volunteering there for a year or so and it changed my life!
