Hey folks. Just wanted to share with you all a film I scored that is being released here in the U.S. later this week (May 2, 2008) called GRADUATION.

GRADUATION stars Adam Arkin, Shannon Lucio from The O.C., Riley Smith from Freaks and Geeks, Chris Marquette from The Education of Charlie Banks, Chris Lowell from Veronica Mars, Aimee Garcia from Spanglish, and a cameo appearance by Huey Lewis.

Synopsis: When a friend is in need of financial assistance, the logical next step is to plan a bank robbery. At least that was the conclusion of four high school friends about to embark on the next stage of their lives. The question is will they pull off this heist in time to toss their caps at graduation or have they gotten themselves way in over their heads?

GRADUATION is being released theatrically in limited/selected U.S. cities by Magnolia Pictures in association with Wagner/Cuban's Truly Indie and Redwood Palm Pictures this May 2, 2008. It will play in select Landmark Theatres.

Theatrical release cities:
Austin, TX
Berkley, CA
Minneapolis, MN
San Franicisco, CA
Seattle, WA

And, in a quick turn around effort to still hit the graduation time frame this year…Magnolia Home Entertainment will release the DVD of GRADUATION on May 13th, 2008 in North America and the U.K.

It is a full featured DVD with a commentary track, deleted scenes, alternate opening to the film, storyboard segment, blooper reel, etc...As well as Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and a direct digital transfer from the HDSR film master.

The DVD has been sold through to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Blockbuster Video, Hollywood Video, Netflix, Amazon.com DVD Empire.com and more retailers. So...one should be able to buy it pretty much anywhere on May 13th, 2008.

GRADUATION is a project I am very proud to have been a part of and if you all take the time to check it out in theatres this weekend (if it is playing in a city near you), or on the DVD that follows, I promise you all will enjoy the film. It is not a comedy film in the vein of the "R-Rated" comedies that are coming out now. While there are a few funny moments a lot of high school kids (and anyone who once went through high school graduation) will be reminded of...it is more of an action/drama piece that takes a more serious turn as the film progresses.

The film is an indie that was made outside of the studio system. Hence the smaller budget for marketing and the limited release schedule. Many who worked on the film are heavy hitters in the industry though. The film's producers were Jane Sindell (produced Seabiscuit), Bob Degus (Produced Pleasantville for Gary Ross), Scott Hanson and Robin Bradford. Jason Blulm at Paramount is an executive producer as well as Fred Fuchs who has produced a lot for Coppola over the years.

The film's official website has the most recent trailer for the film and a sneak preview scene, but other older trailers can be found on YouTube.

Graduation Official Website

There is also a Myspace Page and a YouTube Channel. And on Facebook search for "Graduation Movie".

I have linked here some stills from the film (coming from my server)...
And, anyone interested in hearing some snippets of the score can check out the music page on my website www.brianralston.com.

Thank you all for taking the time to check it all out folks! Hope you all can see it in the Landmark Theatres if you are in one of those cities above...or everyone else can check out the DVD soon after.

Thanks Travis. It was a lot of fun being a part of the film and it has been a long road to it getting released...which is normal for indie films made outside of the studio system. But none the less...we are all excited and proud of the end result of our labors.

:)
