Some of us have been waiting DECADES for Williams to do something DVD or BR officially with SPACE PATROL and TOM CORBETT, SPACE CADET that he supposedly has the rights to...
It seems to me a sad "blindness" with WW, in that he or those in charge, forget that all of this history is on decaing materails, even more so on Rotoscope and other TV mediums. The clock is almost at midnight....where the only surviving versions look like what's on Youtube!!!

Description

Get ready for planet Earth to be overtaken by a criminal brain from outer space! When Gor, an evil brain from planet Arous, inhabits the body of scientist Steve March, his intention is nothing less than world domination. Lucky for Earth, another intergalactic brain, Val, offers to assist March’s wife, Sally, in stopping the madness. How does Val intend to help? By inhabiting Sally’s dog! A great example of cut-rate sci-fi from the 1950s, this independently produced feature stars B movie favorite John Agar (The Mole People, Revenge of the Creature), and was directed by Nathan Juran, a master of the genre who helmed such classics as The Deadly Mantis, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

Bonus Materials

  • Full Color Booklet with original essay by Author/ Historian Tom Weaver
  • Full Commentary track with Author/ Historian Tom Weaver
  • An Original Ballyhoo Motion Pictures production
  • The film will also be included in a full frame format, 1.33:1

I'm greatful seeing these classic Sci-Fi features now being restored and released on BD. Interestingly enough, it seems well timed after the buyout = The Film Detective is an American classic film restoration, distribution, and streaming company based in Rockport, Massachusetts, and is a division of the American entertainment company, Cinedigm. This may have given them more leverage and buying power to inable them to aquire these titles and the money to create the phyisical media needed for release..? Whatever the case, I'm thrilled to see all of these titles surfacing with guys like Philip Hopkins still at the helm!!

Mine is arriving this week. Looking forward to what Film Detective has up it’s sleeve in the future. I’ve heard that it may be She Demons.
Some Wade Williams titles I’d like to see released include Kronos, Hideous Sun Demon and Target Earth.

I got my copy Wednesday, unfortunately I haven't had time to watch it. I should rectify that tonight.

On a side note I was friends with Joy Houck Sr. and Jr. Sr. and I would have great conversations concerning the movies he executive produced, which Brain was one. He told many time that this film was one of his favorite despite his fondness for westerns. I found him very interesting, however when I meet Lash LaRue years ago, he was very pointed on his opinion of Mr. Houck.

Here are my results. The SD from Image is 1.33:1, has some slight vertical scratches throughout, but not real noticible. Begins with WADE WILLIAMS COLLECTION, runs 1:10:59, is darker than the BD. The audio is loud as most SDs are.

The BD 1.33:1 is about the same darkness as the SD, very few vertical scratches (I wonder why they didn't remove them). Begins with WADE WILLIAMS PRODUCTION. Runs 1:10:55.

The BD 1.85:1 is very light, almost washed out compared to the 1.33:1 BD/SD. No vertical scratches that are noticible. It's like when they put out THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN in 1.85:1. Runs 1:10:55.

Very good EXTRAS, didn't listen to the commentary, maybe later.

Verdict: if you don't want to spend the extra bucks, the SD is fine.

It’s a great disc, curated with love. The new brain-in-cheek extra with 89-year-old Joyce Meadows is worth the price of admission.
