I am getting a new pc. what is the best way for me to transfer my files from my old pc to my new pc? I have soemthing about getting a crossover cable? As long as both of my pcs have a network card. Well my new pc will have Lan on the mother board but I am not sure if my old pc has a network card. When I got comcast cable moden installed I think the technician installed an ethernet card. Is this the network card i need? Any help would be great thanks!

Does your old pc have a CD-burner?
Always a good idea to backup important files anyway.

If you're going to keep your old pc up and running, consider a router. This way both pc's can share the cable modem and you can create your own home network and transfer files across the network.

If you don't have a CD burner you can put the hard drive in the new machine as a Slave, transfer the files over to the main hard drive and then put the hard drive back in the old machine.
