Films have been inventing countries from the beginning. I thought we could start a list of nations that exist only on film.

    Matobo - The Interpreter
    Freedonia - Duck Soup
Florin and Gilder - The Princess Bride
    Isla Nublar - Jurassic Park

I thought Isla Nublar and the other islands where the dinosaurs were placed were all territories of Costa Rica bought out by Hammond (at least in the book). Fictitious, but not countries, I think.

No, because they were using Albania, a very real county, and not Elbonia.

    Elbonia is from Dilbert.

The Natrion of Libra - Equilibrium (Fun Fact: The script had it down as the nation of Liberia. But luckily geography-aware fact checkers learned that Liberia is already a real functional country in Africa!).

    Zamunda - Coming To America

    Skull Island - King Kong

I think Commando and Die Hard 2 both had the same fictitious South American country of Valverde.

Also, Isthmus City in Licence To Kill.
