Greetings from Mexico. After 11 years of living in an Internet wasteland, with service being below 2 mg download, making streaming a 50/50 opportunity at best, our area south of Guadalajara is getting fiber optics. Around 50 mg download!
So upgrading from my Onkyo HT R391 is a better option, given that none of the HDMI inputs work, repairing is a costly endeavor. Speaks came with the R391.
So looking to spend from 500 to 1200 USD for a new AVR that:
1. Is from a reliable company that provides service in Mexico. Sony has a center in Guadalajara, all others in Mexico City
2. Can withstand power surges, brownouts during the rainy season, dusty environment during the dry season. Yes we have voltage regulators, surge protectors
3. Has the necessary capability to take advantage of streaming now/foreseeable future. Currently, have Roku 2 which delivers sound to the Onkyo via an HDMI extractor, then sending video via HDMI to an Epson projector. Dish receiver sends sound via optical, video via composite. Then via composite video to the projector.
Thanks for comments, help.
