schan1269, if you were a teacher, I'd say that you were a very, very generous one, in assigning grades, to the work that you judge.

The presentation of Too Young to Fall in Love, that I heard on your post, has one or two interesting lines of lyrics, along with one line repeated far too much, and all of them, sung by a young woman with a fairly good voice. But calling the song brilliant, is a really big stretch, IMO.

To me, that song simply doesn't seem like one that such artists as Adele, Joni Mitchell, or Tori Amos, would be proud to list as one of their compositions.
She didn't write the song...

Motley Crue did.

The briliance is the direction she took the song.

I stand corrected. I imagine her rendition is quite an improvement over whatever Motley Crue might have done with the song. But purely, as an example of song writing, I would think that few people would judge the quality of Too Young to Fall in Love, to even be the equal, of a merely average Lennon/McCartney or Billy Joel song. But I guess that's why those folks are renowned as great song writers, and Motley Crue isn't.

I'm with you - I found the original MC version on YouTube this morning to compare with the version you posted, and I love what she did with it, taking a good song and layering upon it a fine, updated vibe, sounding like the song was contemporary instead of a remake of an 80s song.

Now, I'm off to enjoy some U2.

Like the modern song lyric...

"When did Motley Crue become classic rock..."

And Neil, please tell me you'd heard of Motley Crue prior...

Oh, of course. But like most things, I prefer my 80s rock to be British-born :)

Not 80s...

But I was rocking some Roxy Music. You know the band famous for showing something other than a females voice...

Found two more singers(using phone, so no links) that have great voices.

Tori Kelly(which, I'm apparently late to that party) is bringing a bit of scat back.

Tove Lo. 2nd coming of Vanessa Daou? But with blunt lyrics.
