I deal with PC Junk day in and day out and I have to say
that there is no way I would use it in my home theater.
Now if you replace the small system with a nice IBM RS390
Mainframe (I also use one of those at work) I would say hell
yeah! :)
Interesting list for sure!

I don't think he owns it. I think he was just bored one day and said, "Hey, let's see how much fake money I can blow on a home theater".

If money were no object and we were integrating a computer
system into this I would replace all of that fickel PC gear
with the afformentioned RS390 Mainframe connected to an EMC
DASD and I would just copy all the DVD's in the collection
over to the DASD and put the originals away for safe keeping.
:)
Ohh and I would have an NEC 61" Plasma no heck make that
6 of em all butted up to each other and somehow spliced
together... Yeah... A "Wall of Vision" :)

Howard- I didn't see anything for AC line conditioning?
(But of course, I didn't recognize half the stuff on your list either... :) )

All this is to me is a bunch of Buzzwords and components that are just not needed and have really no place in a home theater (not any HT that can become a reality anyway)...its like adding a Stove to a Bi-plane. As for the Operating Systems....Keep FreeBSD and dump the rest (unless you are going to run Debian Linux):)
But...
Since we are going the ridiculous route.. heh
we can throw in a Sunfire 15k and throw an AMD PCI expansion processor into the thing. (find some use for it) Only another $4,000,000 ;)
