Well, after looking around quite a bit a member of the vBulletin.org,Kevin "tubedogg" Schmacher, has written an excellent add on to vBulletin to allow you to set your Favorite Forums.

If you go to the User Control panel and click on the "Edit Favorites" in the Forum Favorites area you will be given a list of the Forum category areas and each of the sub areas. You can pick and chose from there. Then go to the "Edit Options" in the User Control Panel and enable "Show only your Favorite Forums" and you will see only those areas when you get back on the forum. You can always go back later and change this.

In addition I have put an Unsubscribe and Subscribe link on the main page. This will allow you to Subscribe to the newsletter that we send out and Unsubscribe if you chose not to get it.

Another way to set this is to go to the User Control panel and click on Edit Options and then enable/disable the "Allow Bulletin Board Administrators and Moderators To Send You Email Notices?". This will have the same effect.

So if you do not want to get the newsletter just disable/unsubscribe. If you want to get it enable/subscribe.

Ron lost the email list on his hard drive that he was keeping records of to mail out. Everyone needs to do this.

Thanks,

Parker

Cool! I just finished doing this and it works great!
I also subscribed to the newsletter. The only thing I noticed about that was you only have the words "Subscribe" and "Unsubscribe" on the front page. Unless someone went to this post, they wouldn't know what they were subscribing to. I suggest you put the word "Newsletter" above the Subscribe/Unsubscribe to describe what they're for. :)

Excellent Job!!! So is this VB/hardware combo pretty stable? Seems like it from a user perspective. We are really flying.

Carlo:

Well, in a word YES!

You really need to have the server horsepower though too, if you are running a really large site. So far so fanstantic.
