What with this "classic" superhero cinema renaissance in full swing, I'm curious to check out some titles I don't know much about.
I'm planning to pick up Hellboy, Powers and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and I'm wondering what other titles you'd recommend.
    Thanks.

My favorites these days are Preacher (which is finished now anyway, the movie is reportedly stuck in development hell) and Bone (Which also have a movie coming I believe)

Also, Sin city, but I guess that is starting to get old as well.

A few manga favorites are Blade of the immortal and Gunsmith cats

    Scott,
    Hellboy is a blast.
    Start with:
    Seed of Destruction TPB
The Chained Coffin and Others TPB (Short Stories + The Wolves of Saint August collected)
    Wake the Devil TPB
The Right Hand of Doom TPB (Short Stories + Almost Colossus and The Right Hand of Doom 2 issue series collected)
    Conqueror Worm TPB
    Great, great stuff!
Beyond that and The Dark Knight Strikes Again, I don't read much anymore[IMG]
    Take care,
    Chuck

America's Best Comics by Alan Moore and Co. are all great, but Promethea and Greyshirt especially stand out for me.

I haven't collected since '96, but intelligent stuff I liked back then included
    Grendel
    Sin City
    Sandman
    Hellblazer
    and 80's graphic novels like
    V For Vendetta
    Watchmen
    The Dark Knight Returns
    The Killing Joke
And what was the name of that 95 or 96 book about a big Alligator Emperor who ruled a bunch of planets and rode around in a giant skyscraper on tank treads? I really liked it but it only lasted about 8-10 issues.
