Why are there so many songs that mention fire?

Maybe because it's easy to rhyme (desire, higher, liar), I dunno. Pick one from the list below or add your own.

Benatar, Pat - Fire and Ice

Cash, Johnny - Ring of Fire

Chaka Khan - Through the Fire

Como, Perry - Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

    Cult, The - Fire Woman

    Dokken - Into the Fire

Doors, The - Light My Fire

    ELO - Fire on High

    Fastball - Fire Escape

    Hendrix, Jimi - Fire

Joel, Billy - We Didn't Start the Fire

    Judas Priest - Rapid Fire

    Kiss - Heaven's on Fire

Lewis, Jerry Lee - Great Balls of Fire

Machine Head - Desire to Fire

Manowar - Black Wind, Fire and Steel

Mellencamp, John - Paper in Fire

Metallica - Fight Fire with Fire

Metallica - Jump in the Fire

Rage Against the Machine - Sleep Now in the Fire

Rolling Stones - Play with Fire

    Springsteen, Bruce - Fire

Springsteen, Bruce - I'm on Fire

Johnny Cash "RING OF FIRE" - goddam, that song's great!

And in further celebration of my newly acquired GENUINE BASEMENT TAPES (thank you fellow HTF-er, Greg Yurkovic!), lemme nominate "This Wheel's On Fire!".

I'm partial to U2's "The Unforgetable Fire" from the album of the same name.

Oddly enough the word Fire is not in the song itself.

Wow, you're quite observant. I never noticed, but it is quite a portfolio. Funny, I've listened to 2 of them on CD this last week and they will be my first 2 favorites.

    2. Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

    3. Bruce Springstine - I'm on Fire

    4. Rolling Stones - Play with Fire

    5. The Doors - Light My Fire

nirvana "lake of fire" of the 1994 unplugged album, originally written by the meat puppets, performed astoundingly by cobain with the meat puppets on the above album.

Not one of my favorite songs, but you could add Prodigy - "Firestarter" to your list.

    From "Fire:"

    Fire, Fire, Fire

    Fire on my Brain

    Fire, Fire, Fire

    Your My Water

From Kids in the Hall. Thought it was appropriate.

No Fire in the title but after Ring of Fire and Jimi/RHCP Fire, I love "Rock Rock (Till You Drop)" by Def Leppard which has tons of fire discussion going on in it. I mean, come on, the album is Pyromania.

But if you need Fire in the title, then I can just stick in "Coming Under Fire" from the same album, another great song. Actually I think this album is an all-time great so anything off it is good to me.

And while we are on 80's hard rock, I can follow my "not in the title" theme and go with Motley Crue's Red Hot.

Continuing the hard rock, you forgot a rather famous rock "fire" song:

Van Halen "On Fire" from their first album.

Prodigy's Firestarter would be right there for me too.

    Love, is a burning thing

and it makes, a fiery ring.

da da da da da dadada

da da da da da dadada

I fell into a burning ring of fire...

This is a drunken Karaoke favourite!
