Well, Its hard to say. DPL2, DTS-ES discrete, and the other functions is so new to me. (VSX-49TX) I say the "on button" like the other guys.

Things I like about the Sony 777ES

- The sound, it's great.

- The ability to display custom text for any input. Keeps it easy for the woman. She doesn't need to remember video 1 is replayTV, just turn the input selector til she sees replayTV. =)

Don't like...

No 6.1 channel output.

Onkyo 898 (still deciding if I want to return this...)

Things that I liked about this unit,

- pure audio mode (all video components off)

- video switching with source conversion

- 6.1 output!

Don't like:

New unit yet, onkyo didn't have the foresight to even allow any type of firewire upgrade. The $3000 989 has it, yet the 898 doesn't. This is the main reason I'm thinking of returning it.
