Here's some good ones off the top of my head:

CEREMONY-Galaxie 500 (New Order)

LITTLE HONDA-Yo La Tengo (Beach Boys)

JOHNNY B. GOODE/ROADRUNNER-Sex Pistols (Chuck Berry/Jonathan Richman)

LOVE WILL TEAR US APART-Bis (Joy Division)

TAKE ME TO THE RIVER-Talking Heads (Al Green)

DENIS (Denise)-Blondie (Randy & the Rainbows)

(I CAN'T GET NO)SATISFACTION-Cat Power (Rolling Stones)

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS-Chicks On Speed (Delta 5)

MONEY THAT'S WHAT I WANT-Flying Lizards (Barrett Strong)

And the original that's better than the better-known cover:

TAINTED LOVE sung by Gloria Jones covered by Soft Cell.

Very, very bad--but far from the worst! Crispin Glover's cover of "These boots are made for walking" is suicide-inducing. You can find it out there on the net. Email me if you are stuck and I'll help.

Shatner and Nimoy each had records out in the late 60s or early 70s. The songs are so bad that you will feel embarrassed listening to them, even if no one is around. It's kind of the same feeling that one gets when watching "Saved By The Bell" or "California Dreaming".

No one mentionned The Melanie Doane Song?

That's my favorite track on her live album! It's a cover of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Very good!

While driving back from San Fran, I was reminded of a couple of other covers that I love:
Simon and Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter," covered by The Bangles. *sigh* Susannah Hoffs....;) Who knew a S&G song could be such a kickass rocker?
U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name," covered by The Pet Shop Boys. Melding this tune, brimming with Bono's earnestness, to "I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" was a stroke of genius!

Dunno if anyone's mentioned this one, but Concrete Blonde's cover of Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows is pretty cool.

Not as cool as the original...

The Byrds version of Dylan's "My Back Pages" (actually, just about any Byrds Dylan cover is good)

Alison Krause's sublime take on The Beatles' "I Will"

Linda Ronstadt's cover of Warren Zevon's "Hasten Down The Wind"

The Bangles' version of Big Star's "September Gurls"
