I was wondering what everyone's favorite character is on Virtua Fighter 4, and why.

I don't have one yet. I've been using Jacky in Kumite mode. I don't have much experience with the VF series, but I really dig this game.

I began using Jacky because it says that he's good for beginners in the manual. I'd like to start using the Shaolin monk soon. He's got to be the best looking video-game fighter I've seen, as far as movement is concerned.

I've been using Lei Fei so far with pretty good luck. This game is DEEP, though - it'll take a long time to master any character.

The one unfortunate thing about this game is that my friends who would usually play DOA or Tekken with me aren't as into this game due to the skill level involved.

I'm definitely a fighting game novice, but I'm trying to learn all of Kage's moves.

Might try Lei-Fei some more though.

Wolf and Shun. I love Wolf's power moves and I love Shun's style.

I'm 1st Dan with Lei Fei (love the stances and animation) and my younger sister is 3rd Dan with Pai. It's a lot of work to climb up the ranks past Kyu!

I just started using Lei Fei last night, and went all the way up to 1st Dan, winning 18 in row. I totally dig this guy.

Anyone know how the rankings work?

I have no experience with VF4 (or really any part of the series) but will probably pick this title up for the character who fights with the Drunken Boxing style. Plus, I hear the this game is great!

Wolf. Been playing the guy since VF1[IMG]. I'm still amazed at the amount of move this one character has alone. I've opened up combos and some seriously nasty throws with the big man. Excellent fighter!

I've started playing Lei-Fei now. He's got some moves... a LOT of movies... it's gonna take awhile to learn even half of them [IMG]

Am I the only one who loves Aoi? Maybe it's because I'm always drawn to the unpopular characters. I loves all of her defensive, reflexive Aikido styles... her alternate stance automatically blocks (most) attacks.
VF4 is the first fighting game since Street Fighter 2 that I have bothered to buy or, for that matter, try to master. I love the emphasis on fighting over crazy combos, projectiles, etc. There is a poetic balance to the characters; although their respective fighting styles and paces are wholly different, the corresponding button commands pull off moves that are relatively similar in effect.
There are a huge number of jaggies all over the game, a somewhat distracting graphical element which is entirely redeemed by the fluid, smooth, believable character animations and totally satisfying gameplay. The backgrounds are very blocky, jaggy and simplistic, but again, the gameplay is genius.
Lei Fei is another favorite, if only for the smooth, relaxes transitions from one stance to the next.

I haven'tried Aoi yet but I don't dislike her. She gives me a hard time when I play through the Arcade.
