What's the best theatrical trailer you've seen?

    Couple of good ones......

    When Harry Met Sally.

    Miracle On 34th Street (1947).

Pearl Harbor is my absolute favorite, no doubt about that.

Far From Heaven and Max are pretty good recent ones that come to mind.

The first time I saw the Pearl Harbor teaser, with the planes flying over the people on the ground, I cried. I really, honestly cried. I got goosebumps, the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I burst into tears. There's no way the movie itself could have lived up to that! I was hoping though, I had such high hopes. I told my husband that if they didn't do Pearl Harbor proud, I'd never forgive them. When it opened, the reviews told me all I needed to know.
I never went to see PH. I still haven't seen it.
I also think Titanic had a killer trailer. Until I saw it, I only knew the sporadic bad reports (over budget, release date moved back, problems on the set) and assumed it was going to be terrible. My husband and I saw the thrilling, emotional trailer and looked at each other with amazement. We were SO THERE!
And, as far as we were both concerned, the movie lived up to the promise of the trailer.
On the other side, I fear that the Gangs of New York trailer is going to keep people away. I get a charge out of it, but every time I've seen it in the theater, people laugh at how silly Daniel Day Lewis looks in that black cap and mustache and then in the taller than normal stovepipe hat. These people are looking at it like a comedy. [IMG]

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (Breathing Trailer)
    This was the PERFECT teaser.
Fade to black after Lucasfilm logo to hear only Vader's breathing with very quick shots. Then about half-way through the Sith drums kick in with one other rising note. Cap everything off with another quick shot, but this time with sound effects, of Anakin and Dooku duelling.
If you haven't seen it, click here. It's also on the DVD. [IMG]

Vanilla Sky's trailer still gives me goosebumps every time I see it.
also Blade had a great trailer and both Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers final trailers are awesome.

I've always been partial to the Almost Famous trailer. It's what convinced me that I HAD to see that movie in the theater. I went in still unsure if I was going to like it. I came out in love with it.
Isn't it funny how you discover a movie that you're unsure about and wind up just loving it to pieces?

I always find it funny when Orson Welles says "A Gene Roddenberry Production, of a Robert Wise film".
