i want to buy my dad a tv & dvd player for fathers day
his current tv is a 27 inch ten year old POS. so i would like to buy one that is greater then or of equal size and all in the price range of $1500 for both tv and dvd player.
i am skeptical about buying a tv online unless i hear good stories
    thanks in advance

im thinking maybe really rock his world...
    -spend $500 on a h.t.i.b.
    -$200 on a dvd player
-leaving you $800 on a tv and wires/accessories
there are plenty of great options in this price range.

Yeah, but how easy will that H.T.I.B, with the DVD player, and TV be to operate?
Before you run out and buy all this stuff, consider the person receiving it, and the ease of operation of the equipment. Remember the K.I.S.S. rule, Keep It Simple Sammy.
Buying a gift that's frustrating to operate [IMG], may not be a gift at all, but a source of pain for the person receiving it and for you.... many trips to fix a seemingly simple operation problem, along with a lot of possible choice words and arguments [IMG].
By no means am I telling you not to get it, just make sure to take the necessary steps to make the equipment enjoyable--- it's a gift after all something to be enjoyed. [IMG]
    Best of luck,
    JJP
