Fast forward won't work on a rented dvd (1 Viewer)

I rented "Keeping the Faith" and noticed while trying to fast forward through the credits, that the screen would freeze up (almost like when you have a dirty disc or a bad layer change) or just crawl jerkily a little bit. If I hit play for normal speed no problems at all. I jumped back to different chapters in the movie and the same thing happened. I could scan backwards (

OK, first of all, purists will tell you that you shouldn't be forwarding through the credits, particularly when they are as well done as the ones in "Keeping the Faith." The opening music and cinematography do an excellent job in this case of setting the tone of the movie.
That said, yes the authoring on this disc is particularly screwy. Disney is known for this sort of thing. On my Sony DVD player, I had a hard time reversing. The picture would just freeze.
