Looks like ADV is joining the double-dip business with Farscape. From WatchFarscape:
These are supposedly the first 7 episodes of Season One and the set sounds pretty nice, but this is really unfair to anyone that shelled out a lot of money for the original sets and supported ADV when they started releasing Farscape on DVD. If ADV would offer mail-in rebates to people who bought the original volumes, that would be a nice gesture but I have a feeling that's just not going to happen.

I'm waiting to see if a new box set gets issued once all the "Starburst" volumes are out for Season 1.

Me too. The price for the (4) season boxed sets that's available now is way too high, which is why I haven't bought any. But if they eventually release a "Farscape: Starburst" season boxed set, then the price may be considerably cheaper. At least that is my hope.

That's still pretty lame though, 7 episodes on what equates to 4 discs? Why not just do like all the other series do and release 4 eps a disc in a season set? Then the last disc is all special features. This doesn't sound much better than what's already out there.

I have been waiting to try this show, I hope this disk shows up on netflix. 7 ep/disk is fantastic for those of us who rent. That said, why are these people trying to be different (and NOT better) with these bizzare releases (2/disc, now 7/disc)?.

I already have the complete series. I don't care how juicy the extras are, I can't justify buying it all over again. (Even if I didn't have a wife to answer to, I still wouldn't buy it.:D) Especially when there are so many other DVDs out there worth spending my money on.

Agreed. I'm curious about this series, and would have considered a simple "season one box set". But not these bizarro fractional releases.

well, I see tv-dvd's similar to movie DVD's. There is (as there should be) depreciation in cost as it gets older. Like when the Clerks single-disc came out in 1999, it cost more than the 3-disc costs now, and a lot of people did buy it in the $35 range... yet now it's $14.99 at your local Best Buy. Hell, Blair Witch was $25 when it came out and now it's $6.

Almost all movies go down in price, so it shouldn't be crazy to want the same for TV too. There's a number of shows I'd check out on DVD, but I'm waiting for the companies to figure "ok, this has been out long enough at the $100 price point that it's time to drop the price to $60" just like they do it to theatrical releases.

Yes, it sucks, but doesn't it happen with movies all the time?

Now that the price has dropped on this, I can finally pick this series up. The old releases were just way too expensive for my taste.

I've read that new commentaries were recorded for eps that didn't have them the first time around. The Farscape gang always did have entertaining commentaries so I'll probably rent these to check those out but I'm not buying as I have all the original releases already.

Anyone knows if Netflix will be stocking these discs?

I rented the firt disc from the old release (Premiere, I, E.T.), and barring the pop culture references (they are already annoying), I think I am going to like this show. Heck, the title music by itself is half the fun :D.

I have 3 seasons of Angel, 1 season of Buffy, and the whole of Farscape ahead of me. I love TV on DVD :)

As I flipped through the episodes on the discs, I noticed that Subtitles were automatically turned on, has anyone else noticed this as well?

Are these original, sour or tropical flavored? :D

I like the original flavor myself.

Does anyone know why there's no commentary track for PK Tech Girl? The DVD cover says there's none, but the insert says there is one by Ben Browder and Claudia Black. It doesn't make sense to me to include commentaries for 6 out of 7 episodes.

They were planning on having a commentary for it, but it didn't pan out, so they either forgot to take it off or didn't find out until it was too late.
