"FAR OUT!: Hey, 'Scapers — this is the news you've been waiting for! The Jim Henson Company is holding a press conference Thursday to "announce an exciting new development in the campaign to continue Farscape." Among those participating in the media pow-wow: Series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon and exec producers Brian Henson and David Kemper. They better not be unveiling the 2003 Farscape Christmas ornament."

    Cinescape

And here's where we drop the other shoe: we know for a fact that tomorrow afternoon The Jim Henson Company will host a press conference concerning the future of FARSCAPE. Among those FARSCAPE creators scheduled to attend are producers Brian Henson and David Kemper, with series creator Rockne O'Bannon also a likely participant. The purpose of the event? To announce a "new development" with FARSCAPE.

I read the exerpt on Dark Horizons and I was exstatic. I only hope it's all true. Coincidentally I got my Farscape season 3, Collection 5 in the mail today. Maybe thats a good omen.

In this day of mediocre Sci Fi like Enterprise, it would be refreshing to get this show back even if its for a short time and besides we have to see how John and Aeryn get out of that little jam at the end of season 4. I think they should call the first show(if it IS coming back), Picking up the pieces!

Anyone know where the press conference info will be available?

    From Tvguide.com:

"That Farscape press conference we told you about yesterday, during which producers were going to "announce an exciting new development in the campaign to continue" the franchise, has been postponed, a rep for the Jim Henson Company confirms. But never fear, 'Scapers. Sources tell me the media event will be rescheduled for sometime next week. (And trust me, it'll be well worth the wait.)"

I have a feeling we are going to get a Full Season 5 and a feature film out of this. we shall see though.

At SaveFarscape (http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17172") someone tells that he had a chance to talk with RaeLee Hill in Burbank and she told him a couple of things:

    1. Farscape actors are "on hold"
    2. Studios are being reserved for December, January and February.
    3. Sets are being built again.
    4. A combination of miniseries and a feature movie is in talks.
    5. Ben Browder has signed "something".

So it isn't the fifth season but this is excellent news anyway.

What always made me angry about the final episode of Farscape was that they had wrapped the entire series about one minute before the show was over and then started a completely new storyline.

The aliens at the end were completely new - they had nothing to do with anything that had come before.

Earth was save, Scorpius was gone (for now), John and Aeryn were together. Chi and D'Argo were together - the perfect ending.

I'll never understand why they didn't recut the final episode after they knew they were cancelled.

Now instead of starting with a new storyline or continuing the Scorpius/Scarren storyline they'll have to first pick up the pieces (literally) from the final episode.

I see your point - but the way they did it seemed a little childish to me.

And if you think about it - the way they did that cliffhanger actually made it less likely for Farscape to return: Instead of having a clean slate to start from in a possible feature film or miniseries they now have to explain what has happened up to this point and have to feature these aliens. Had they not done this they could've just started with "5 years later" or something like that and made it a lot easier for people who have never seen an episode of the show.

And while I'm happy about the news that the show will return I won't start celebrating until I get official confirmation that it's going to happen and that ALL of the actors will return.

I don't think Kemper could have accepted a half-renewal offer if he wanted to. The owners (Kirch/EM.TV?) were in financial trouble and didn't want to incur their share of the expense...at least that's how I remember it. Anyone?
