    With all the accolades that Nicole Kidman has been getting lately, I thought about purchasing my favorite Nicole Kidman/Tom Cruise movie, "Far And Away". Just wanted to ask if anyone has any opinions about the current DVD, audio and video-wise?

    Also, is there any news of an SE in the works? Thanks for any info.

    I have this movie on DVD and it is an outstanding transfer in both the audio and video departments. I don't believe their has been any mention of a Special Edition for this title.

    The current version looks pretty decent, considering it is a pretty early DVD release.

    I guess we shouldn't hold our breath for a new Special Edition with Tom & Nicole commentary.

    It is an excellent DVD. It was one of first DVDs that I purchased in 1998. The sound and picture are done well. The music by John Williams is reason enough to buy this DVD.

    I have this DVD as well as I am a fan of this movie. It's one of my favorites. While this film begs to be redone in todays SE treatment the current DVD will indeed hold you over until a new one is made. I encourage you to purchase it if you can find it. I had a hard time finding it.

    Ive always thought the DVD was a little pale compared to the colors on the LD,

    but thats just me. all in all, it is a good start;

    Still, after watching the Network Broadcast of a few years ago-which contained what?-another 30-45 minutes of footage, (i dont recall) its hard to watch knowing all this was deleted from the film. The extra scenes really helped flesh out the story-mostly in America.

    I dont think Universal have ever mentioned an SE of this .
