Mixed feelings about this release. I'm glad it's finally coming out, but no extras? There were lots of deleted scenes, plus the original short film, not to mention the potential for a great commentary track by the cast. For $15 though, I'll still buy it.

At last!!

It is a pity about the lack of extras, but anamorphic picture and 5.1 sound is good enough for me.

Nice one WB.

p.s. the artwork isnt too bad either, compared to the crappy one we got on the VHS cover over here in the UK,with Judd Nelson mid freefall, drawn in some cartoon type style.

Thanks for the link, Larry. :D

I've been waiting for this to come out
for a long time, so I'm very happy to
see this news.

I like this film a lot, I'll buy it for that price and then (if enough people also buy it) we may indeed get an SE.

I always liked the use of Pat Metheny's song It's For You in the wedding sequence.

I'm looking forward to this myself (I can tape over my HBO copy).

As for extras...This is Warner. When they say no extras, they may mean "no extras besides a trailer". Also, Warner might have some decent extras to spring on us as a surprise.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

With the announcement of this and "Ice Pirates", maybe there's hope yet for my Big 3 from Warner.

I couldn't agree more - plus Traffic's "Can't Find My Way Home" is an awesome song to end the film with. This film definitely has a great soundtrack.

I will echo the 'FINALLY!'

A great movie. Now where is Mystery Sci. Theat. The Movie???

I read somewhere that Fandango is still Kevin Costner's favorite film that he's been in.

I just found out yesterday this was being released on DVD next month. I don't know how I missed this thread.

I, too, would love to see more extras, but I am thrilled to finally have a DVD copy of this movie. I have also thought the song played during the closing credits is an awesome song to use. IMO, this closing credit song has the same impact as God Only Knows has in Love Actually.

Has anyone taken this for a spin yet?

My player failed to output the Dolby Digital soundtrack, and I had to switch to my receiver's analog inputs (which I usually only use for DVD-Audio / SACD playback) in order to hear the sound on this disc.

My player (Pio 563A) sometimes exhibits this problem with DVD-Audio discs due to a known firmware issue (yes, there is a fix, and no, I haven't had it done yet), but I thought the issue was limited to just DVD-Audio titles.

Fantastic movie, and nice transfer. Audio was perfect on my system. Okay, not perfect, but very 5.1 good. Hey, I had been watching a VHS-to-DVD WinVideo "master" prior to this.

I'd love to see the "deleted" scenes, etc., but I got this for $9.99 at Best Buy. Who's to complain?

Is Costner even speaking to the director anymore? They were best friends but, from what I've heard, they haven't spoken with each other since WATERWORLD.

Great film though. Thanks for reviving the thread. Haven't picked it up yet.

Well, they did the audio commentary to Robin Hood together, so they must be on speaking terms again. :)
