I recently aquired a pair of Extremis' for a decent price, but I'm still contemplating what to build with them. I have a pair of Dayton MTM towers that I'm relatively happy with, but I currently don't have a very good center channel.

Right now I don't have plans to shell out the cash for more extremis', I already have my R/L towers, and rears aren't all that important to me, so a center channel seems like the best option.

I know Adire has a kit that works as a center channel, but I don't know if/doubt that the xo is available to duplicate or if they'll sell the kit sans extremis drivers...not to mention that it would kind of defeat the DIY spirit [IMG]

Any other good plans floating around? Would I be wasting these mids using them as a center channel?

Oh, and it'd probably be fine if it ended up being 4 ohm. I'm not really clear on how the adire LCR keeps 8 ohm nominal when using two 8 ohm mids.

    Anywho, keep the responses coming...err...:b

Here's some extremis lovin to keep entertained: vid clip (divx)

$600 is the price for a stereo pair, that includes the $200 cost of the woofers.

I was kind of leaning to a center channel using both drivers and a dedicated midrange driver (and tweeter). I heard I can get the adire LCR kit sans drivers but it would basically cost the same as if I had bought the drivers with it...

    Mattak,

LCR kit sans Extremii (not the tweeter and midrange)
$245-$255 versus $405 for the complete kit. There is
    some savings in there somewhere.[IMG]

    Mattak,

OK here is a dumb idea. Build a LCR Enclosure.
Put the Extremii in it and use them full-range.
When time and budget or what ever permit, add the
WR125 with the woffer and mid-woffer crossovers.
Later add the twetter with its crossover. will
not save any money that way however.[IMG]

    just a thought...

I wouldn't mind experimenting with cheaper drivers, like the dayton silk dome tweeters I'm already using for my mains and then a decent corresponding midrange...but then I need a xo design...

    Hey Matt!

I think chris from CAF chat could prolly help you with the xover design... if not, there are people out there that are experienced with designing xovers.
