You know, they could almost be describing my Uncle Mort. He went missing in the mid-nineties and we always wondered what had happened to him. Do you think I should contact the Russians?
Incidentally, 'Pravda' means 'truth' in Russian, and 'Tas' (the name of the central Russian news agency) means 'news'. Hence the adage in the old USSR - 'in The News is no truth and in The Truth is no news'.
It loses a bit in the translation.
