Are there any DVD burners that have a firewire jack that
could interface with a PC? This way I could burn my own
DVD-Rs (or DVD+RWs) right out of the box using the analog
inputs, but I could also back up or transport PC files
through the firewire jack. ..Or I could produce more
elaborate DVDs with picture menus or even a commentary
track directly from my PC in the future. I could also make
perfect clones of my own home brewed discs by using a simple
mirroring program. Commercial DVD's have digital copy
protection, so "abuses" also shouldn't be an issue.
..Or have the paranoid Hollywood studios made a valuable
feature like this a "no-no" as well? [IMG]

    I don't quite understand what you're asking

If you're asking if there are any stand-alone DVD Recorders with firewire jacks, the answer is no, and nor are there every likely to be. You couldn't send files through those anyway.

First off, this may be in the wrong forum.

Are you talking about set top recorders or standard Firewire PC burners?

If set top recorders basically what you can do is create videos and output the video stream to the set top recorder, but AFAIK there aren't any that let you use it as a standard computer burner for your PC-authored DVDs. (Jeff, they do have Firewire connections.)

If external Firewire PC DVD burners are what you're talking about, there are a bazillion of these.

If I'm reading you right I think you want BOTH a set top DVD recorder and a computer DVD burner (internal or external).

    They don't exist
You need to get either a DVD Burner or a set top dvd recorder
Such an animal would be spiffy, but I don't even want to think about the lawsuits a-coming on something like that [IMG]
