Ext. 7.1 Inputs--Are there differences? (1 Viewer)

Among different sub $1500 receivers (used strictly as pre/pros), will there be major differences with respect to the sound from the Ext. 7.1 inputs? Or should they have little sonic signature as they are "pass throughs"?
For example, would the Ext. 7.1 inputs on a NAD T742 sound any different from those on a T763 if they were both feeding the same power amps?

You said "inputs" but then asked if they would sound different feeding the same amps. IMO, the signal coming out of the two to the same amps will likely sound almost identical. If you mean will they sound different using the m/c inputs, yes, the 763 will be louder and likely cleaner, but not really sound dramatically different.

I guess what I meant was if you were using a separate 5 channel power amp, would there be a difference between the two as preamps strictly using the 7.1 Ext. inputs?
