Explain DTS 96/24 compatibility, please (1 Viewer)

I keep seeing posts about how great this is on the Denon 4802 but I don't get it. How is this different and what are the benefits?

Currently the DTS material is "limited" to 48khz sampling rate.Dts is working on the "true" 24 bit and and 96khz sampling rate software and apparently Denon already complied with the hardware.We'll see!
The current so called 24/96 converters are for the PCM encoded material.

The more bits you use to "define the sound" and the higher the sampling frequency used translates to a better and more accurate sounding mix that is more like its original.

But will we honestly notice the difference? As far as I can tell my HT system sounds AWESOME.
