Is there any chance that Criterion might eventually be able to release the near complete restored version of Laurel and Hardy's THE BATTLE OF THE CENTURY (1927)? I do understand that this title has been caught in a release rights vs. ownership rights tangle over TBOTC's found complete (In 2015!) 16mm second reel, and that other companies have previously tried to release it, but had to cancel at the last minute due to the above issue.

    CHEERS! :)

first thank you from rescuing Detour from the PD hell and giving all of a glimpse of a true Noir Masterpiece

Does Criterion have any kind of agreement with Renown Pictures for specific title, reason is the stellar Alistar Sim Scrooge restoration, needs a proper north american release in HD, but more so as a bonus feature Richard Williams Studio animated version.

if not possible, then what are the possibilities of a reconstructed as close as possible of Richard Williams The Thief and The Cobbler: The reCobbled Cut being released without the intrusions the plagued the film

i would love to hear some comments on color choices as well. And also would like to know about possible upgrades to Juliet of the Spirits, Pandora's Box, Tales of Hoffman and if there is any chance of their releasing The Devils.

What factors go into Criterion deciding to include a commentary or not?

Was really hoping there would be a commentary with your DETOUR release, my favourite noir.

A film historian commentary would have been great.

Is there a chance that there'll be a transcript produced of the proceedings?
If it's not possible because of the time and work involved, I understand .... but it's so much easier to read through a transcript than actually have to sit in front of a computer screen watching and listening to a full Q and A session.
As a former journalist, I know there's few tasks worse than transcribing such sessions ... but here's hoping...... anyway, maybe nowadays there's an automated transcription process available!

Would you consider releasing John Sayles' Lone Star? Quite surprised it isn't on Blu-Ray already.

    CRITERION CHANNEL Sound Question:
Will films eventually be available with original sound mixes? Some stereo titles are streaming in mono sound (for example 'Mother', and 'The Elephant Man'), while other films with 5.1 mixes stream in 2.0 stereo.

How difficult are the renegotiations with studios when you want to rerelease & better a former laserdisc or DVD title? Thank you in advance for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of "Magnificent Obsession" too!

Is there any chance of a properly restored The Last Emperor, in at least Blu-ray if not UHD? This would have to include the original aspect ratio.

Maybe this has been asked already, but any chance of MARAT/ SADE?
Also, any chance of Dennis Muren's EQUINOX (1970) and GOJIRA 1984/ RETURN OF GODZILLA in both Japanese & U.S. versions? I realise G'84 is not part of Showa Era series (but technically falls within real-life Showa Period).

I'd be very surprised if you got any actual title releases out of them, but I do wonder if some of those, missing in action Paramount titles are part of their plans, in other words: will Paramount play ball with them?

...& maybe a yes or no about a re-mastered Great Escape from them.

When should we expect to see COME AND SEE (1985) on Blu-ray?

20th Century Fox (and now Disney) SEEM to have no interest in releasing the original versions of the Star Wars trilogy films from 1977, 1980 and 1983.

Many times, the idea has been floated here and on other forums of the possibility of Criterion restoring and releasing these films, treating them almost as art-house films, since Fox/Disney doesn't appear to see their release as a priority.

Is this at all in the realm of possibility for Criterion?

Thanks for the opportunity to submit my question!

Hello. Thanks for all your wonderful work in bringing these films back to life.

My question involves Alfred Hitchcock's SPELLBOUND.

This is the only one of the three Hitchcock Selznicks that were originally out on Criterion DVDs that hasn't yet been upgraded to Blu-Ray.

Are you working, or about to be working, on SPELLBOUND?

If so, has any of the original negative been found in the intervening years, or will it still be based on a composite print taken from both David O. Selznick's print and one belonging to the Academy Archive that was the basis of the Criterion DVD?

Any other comments you would like to make about the source material and the technical challenges of bringing SPELLBOUND to home video would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Bertollucci is one film great almost totally missing in the Criterion world, Other than some nice exra's on their cropped(not their fault) Last Emperor ,Criterion seems to have gone out of their way not to do any of his films,They have have a lot of lesser films in their collection,, ,Bring back Picture files !! they had enough pictures to make their excellent Heavens Gate classic. We remember the sill frame job on our Ambersons laser disc, missing on the Blue Ray

Victor Erice has two (only two!!) classics they need to get to .
I am sure someone has brought up the backword thinking in releasing 4k transfers on Blue Ray ,when there are plenty of real 4k discs out there already

Yes, I so-o-o want to see SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE on Blu...I bought the import, but it has only Spanish language and subtitles. The other film, EL SUR, is out in UK with English subs, and is another very fine film. Like you said, only two (fictional) feature films to his name.

Is there any possibility Criterion will get their hands on FAHRENHEIT 451 (1966)? The existing blu-ray A/V quality is not up to par. Also, how about Peter O'toole classics MY FAVORITE YEAR and/or THE STUNT MAN?
