Alright, I'm having a hard time with some data I need formatted.
Essentially i've got a list of about 200 countries that are all in a column.
What I want to do is to duplicate each country 20times.

For example. the data now reads
    Afghanistan
    Albania
    Algeria
    ...

    I want it to read
    Afghanistan
    Afghanistan
    Afghanistan
    (and so on for 20times)
    Albania
    Albania
    (etc.)

Is there any easy way to do this? The best I've got so far is to add 19 columns in between each country and then link the cells, but that is going to be very tedious. Is there any easier work-around

Here's the easiest way I could come up with:
    1. Grab your column of 200 country names and copy.
    2. Scroll to the bottom of the column and hit paste (ctrl-v).
    3. Scroll to the bottom and paste 18 more times.
    4. Then grab the entire column and sort ascending.

That was nice, but I can go one better. After you do the first paste, go back to the first cell and highlight all 400 and copy/paste. You can do that again and make 800, and so on.

Want one more? Highlight your entire list, then "edit" and "cut". Click on cell A1 and highlight 200 rows. "Edit", "Paste Special", "Transpose". Your 200 country names will now appear in the first cell of each column instead of in a single column. Then just hightlight the whole thing going down as far as you need to, and then "fill, down".

    Regards,

    Joe

or you can just highlight the whole area you want to paste into and press paste, it'll repeat the paste as many times as needed to fill it up.

what. am i not allowed to reply to my own post...

    thanks again
