I am looking to buy the 3 Evil Dead movies on DVD. I see that there are various versions out there. Which ones are considered the best/definitive version?

Also, what's the word on the Nightmare on Elm Street box set? Good/bad? OK?

Elm Street box is fantastic. Top notch job from New Line. Don't forget, only in the box do you get the disc o' extras and the 3-D ending to Nightmare 6 (as well as no Pan & Scam!)

For the Evil Dead Trilogy... you must get:
The Evil Dead: Book of the Dead (Anchor Bay)
Evil Dead II: Special Edition (Anchor Bay) [get the tin if you can find it... it is cool]
Army of Darkness: Bootleg Cut (Anchor Bay)
Army of Darkness: Theatrical Cut (Anchor Bay)
[the theatrical and bootleg cuts give you the Out of Print Army of Darkness - Limited Edition that regularly sells for over $100 on EBAY [IMG] ]

I would recommend hunting down the Elite version of Evil Dead rather than the new Anchor Bay Book of the Dead edition. The Elite version has the "original" aspect ratio. The Book of the Dead version is, however, a very cool package. [IMG]

If you read my post in the Newbies FAQ, you'll be able to read all about the different Evil Dead releases. That's what it's there for.
