I'm on the Mailing list of the UFO group and it's been reported that A&E has delayed the release of the 1st Box set by 25 days. They were originally to be available first from A&E on 7/9 then shipto retailers on the 30th. With this delay it might mean the ship to retailers date will slip as well...stay tuned.

Good thing I ave enough TV on DVD to hold me over.. now where's that TNG 3rd Season set....

Could be because of the Captain Scarlet glitch with Pioneer players. Maybe they did the same thing to the UFO set.

This may be a good place to follow events, tho so far no real news to add:
    http://www.ufoseries.com/new.html
    This is the latest: 5-Jul-02
"I talked with an A&E customer service person today, and the UFO DVD's were not released on July 2nd, as their website states. It now looks like they won't be shipping from A&E until around July 20th. I don't how (or if) this will affect the retail availability date of July 30th."

Unfortunately, A&E's customer service confirmed for me about an hour ago that the UFO DVD Set No. 1 has indeed been delayed for release until AT LEAST July 25. I ordered from their site, even though it cost more than my usual ordering site (DVDEmpire), as A&E was supposed to release the set almost a full month before other retailers (July 2 vs. July 30).

With the delay at A&E, I wonder if this means that the "general" retail release date will also be pushed back accordingly? I would assume so, as A&E is the one importing/manufacturing the set.

The mystery deepens: the A&E website now has release set for 7/17. No news for retail release.

Well according to Deep Discount they've shipped my set, so I don't know what to make of this. They are delayed to the 17th on the A&E sight. I'm wondering how DDD Got their hands on the set? They've been known to get A&E Product in way early. I wonder if these sets were found to have a problem, A&E sent some to retailers like DDD. Then they order a represssing? This is all conjecture because I'm very confused.

I just got shipping notification from DDD, too ($42.53, FYI - they seem to have great prices for many TV sets).

Dave, I hope your fears do not pan out as I have a Pioneer DVD player...

And Dave, the other odd thing, if I recall right, is that didn't DDD have 7/9 for their UFO release date for quite some time??? Maybe I'm confused...

I Just got the shipping notification as well so I sent DDD an Email asking them how they have the sets when they are delayed from the Source Vendor. I have both a Pioneer and a Toshiba Player, but the Pioneer is the one I view most of my 4x3 material. Someone might want to contact A&E about this as well.

OK I received a response to my UFO Inquiry from DDD:
    ------------------------------------------------
    Thank you for contacting DeepDiscountDVD.com!
We are not sure about that. We got our shipment from A&E just fine. Thank
    you.
Please contact us if you have any questions.

The UFO Set 1 was delayed by A&E Home video until the 17th of this
month. They were supposed to have it a month prior to shipping to
    retailers.
How were you able to get the title before A&E even has it available.
    I'm very confused.
    So there you go....

Note that A&E listed UFO as being "in stock" about
a day or two after Deep Discount DVD shipped, so
it really wasn't delayed 25 days, nor was it delayed
to July 17th. Just about a week.
I've been helping out a little (VERY little) on these
DVD's, and my impression was that the delay was due
to the fact that Carlton was not providing the raw
materials (episodes, extras) in a timely manner.

An email I received from A&E today:

"Thank you for ordering from A&E Home Video. Your order dated June 9, 2002 . . . has been shipped!"

I MUST ADMIT THAT I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!

And to think that people as early as 5 months ago were still paying upwards of over $1000 per Japanese LD set on Ebay . . .

    Hi,

Marc's input suggests that those of us with Pioneer players should not fear, unless some other problem w/A&E is afoot (and it is not clear that the Pioneer problem is limited to Pioneer). In any case, the proof will be in the showing.

And Dave, thanks for chiming in on After Hours. A great, great film I agree (I hope I don't have to get the set to get it, though).

    Best, Dan
