I was an extra in the 1998 movie The Siege, starring Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington (I got to see the latter). I was in college in NYC, '98.

I appear for a whole second [IMG], at around the 1:14:28 mark. I am the tall dude whose helmet is touching the top of the frame (second face from the left):b.

    How was my performance? [IMG]

I was recruited at school, on a day when I was wearing a similar outfit, back when they were en vogue. This lady sold me the "part" as if I was essential to the success of this film.

What she forgot to say is that it would be a 15 hour day. I had to be in midtown at 4AM to catch some shuttle bus to the Brooklyn Bridge on a sunday morning. It was a cold, dreary, rainy spring day. By the time I completed the registration process, all the large sized uniforms were gone, I was stuck an outfit that was too small for me. It took a couple of hours to film us walking on the Bridge.

I was completely soaked standing in the rain for most of the day, for a scene that took perhaps 5 seconds in the movie, when Denzel and Annette Bening step out of Willis' base for the first time, a few minutes after this screen capture. I stood on top of a tank for hours in the rain, and didn't even show up in the movie [IMG]. At the end of the day, I couldn't feel my hands - had to soak them in warm water for a long time afterward to regain feeling.

You know how much I got paid? $80. I never went back the next day... It wasn't about the money, I just had such a terrible time I there was no way I was doing anything like that again.

So, anyone else here ever showed up in a movie? Ya got pix?

Nice work, man [IMG] You look pissed, as though the short guy in front of you farted and you're deciding whether to shoot him or simply knife him [IMG]

I get the feeling there's plenty an HTFer who's been in movies. Home movies. And not the kind that can be shared on a family website [IMG]

Damn dude you look like a big mean mofo that's not to be messed with [IMG] [IMG]

I was part of the Santa Anita crowd scene in Seabiscuit, but obviously no face time.

Oh, yeah to echo what you said, I didn't really have a blast on the one day of filming I was there either. I did see Mcguire, that was pretty cool. He even did a little Q & A session with the crowd which I did not expect since he is a bit of a reclusive cat.

But yeah, it's pretty boring, although I didn't have nearly as bad of a day as you. I don't think I'd sign up for any other extra work, I retired at one film. Hey at least it turned out to be a good film! Oscar nominated! Better than being an extra for say...Walking Tall or something.

I was on Conan for about a minute when he went into the audience to do a skit. Small potatoes to even a half a second in a Bruce Willis movie, I know. [IMG] I have a pic.. I'll edit this post when I find it.

The Holadem Hunters should go "cult" like the Wierzbowski Hunters were for Aliens. [IMG]

Thats weird. Since I've been reading your posts I've always assumed "The arcane symbol formerly known as Holadem" was Asian [IMG]

    At any rate:

When I was in NYC last, for the premier of a FOAFs (Friend Of A Friend) independant film, I was wandering around the East Village and must have walked 20' behind a scripted arguement in the middle of a street that was being filmed from the sunroof of a white Honda Accord.

So I'm "nameless background wandering guy #7" is either a cheap independant film, or the "set-up" of an expensive adult film.[IMG]

Thanks, Holadem. Now I wont' be able to watch that scene without seeing you. Hopefully, if I ever go to New York, I won't run into you in a dark alley. [IMG]

A friend of mine was in some background shots in the Keanu Reeves stinker, The Watcher. I'll have to watch it to see if I can see him.

Thanks guys, I will take your remarks as compliments [IMG].

Believe it or not, I don't own this movie... I never got around to buying it [IMG]. This is a rental, first time seeing it since the theater. I'll get it soon.

Reviews were mixed, but I enjoyed it when I saw it back in '98. I kept telling the girl I was dating not to expect to see me... when I showed up, she screamed "that is you!". We couldn't believe it. Also, I noticed for the first time that I appear in the trailer for a fraction of a second (same scene, much shorter). I didn't realize this the couple of times I saw the trailer back in '98.

Of course, this film has taken a whole new dimension in that last couple of years, for obvious reasons. It was freakishly prescient.

I haven't, but my brother Dan (and his then-girlfriend-now-wife) is in the music documentary Barenaked In America. He's the guy explaining to the band that he doesn't know where Maloney is in either Boston or Portland.

Buy the DVD, and sign it [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Actually this reminded me, my aunt was in "Rain Man". And a very clear face shot as far as extras go. She was right behind Tom Cruise(and Hoffman I think) while he was playing poker or blackjack in the casino. Sorry I'm a bit sketchy on the details, and no pics either since I don't own the DVD.

anyone see teen wolf 2? is there some scene that looks like an outdoor party where everyone looks all bummed until teen wolf comes out -- then everyone cheers up?

supposedly i'm in there somewhere (a scene where one of the main actors bumps into me), but i've never mustered enough courage to actually watch the movie .. so i don't know.

hell, i spent two days on that set. what was i thinking....

I hadn't watched The Siege in years, basically because of Sept. 11. But I had to see Holadem on TV, so I got it out, and lo and behold, there he is [IMG]

Dude, if we ever coincide at a Scooterpalooza, I'm bringing the disc with me and getting it signed [IMG][IMG]

You think that's bad? You're practically an Academy member compared to me.

I played the body of a bomb victim in an unreleased made-for-TV movie, Murder On A Monorail. I was 11 or 12 and even at that age I could tell the movie would suck.

I was in The World According to Garp as it was filmed at my boarding school but alas, the pan shot I was in ended-up on the cutting room floor. [IMG]

Holadem? For some reason I always pictured you a short tubby Hawaiian guy.[IMG]

Well you've given me an excuse to watch The Siege again, haven't seen it since I bought it years ago.

I've mercifully only appeared in a few barely watchable home movies but Greek actor Dimitri Andreas, a family friend, has appeared in a few things, including Top Secret! as the hapless Latrine.[IMG]

    Wow, Holadem!
We get to see more of you in that movie than of David Prowse in SW:ANH! And he was in the credits!

I know why they used that part in the trailer: you were actually good man. Excellent scene. [IMG]

Having met Holadem at several Scooterpaloozas, I can say with certainty that he could kick Jean Claude Van Dammes ass!

    Nice work, H!

I signed up to be notified when they would be looking for extras when they shot "Mister 3000" here in Milwaukee. But, they never notified me to even come down and try out. As far as I know they're done shooting.... bastards.

There aren't many chances to get on film in a hick-town like this.

Damn, I wish my movie were out on DVD [IMG]

I had a nice close up shot (as an extra) in a small budget film "A Girls Guide" with Catherine Dent. It was SO small budget that it doesn't even appear in her IMDB profile :b

I have it on tape (one of those 2am USA movies hosted by that large breasted blonde woman) and have been trying to get it copied to my computer. Once my DVD recorder comes back from the shop, I'll transfer it and get a screen shot. Remember, the movie was in 1990 so no making fun of the mullet. [IMG] LOL - It is funny when you picture someone a cretain way and then find out what they really look like. I guess I kept seeing Holadem and thinking of Holland, so I pictured him as a little Dutch guy. :b
