Ill try to be breif.

1 - RP82 gets H02 error after 7 months
2 - Send back to crutchfield for repair (they charge me 60 for labor)
3 - Got Panasonic to reimburse me the 60.
4 - 2 months later crutchfield admits they cant get spindle motor to do the repair.
5 - I get them to send me a Denon 910.

Question 1 - Is this really an equivalent player?
Question 2 - Should I simply take the merchandise credit of $299 and wait for a new model that is more of an equivalent to the RP-82?

Thanks.

ps; I have a cheapo dvd player to hold me off so I'm not in a rush.

The 910 is a little lower picture quality and lacks some features of the RP82 (DVD-RAM and SVCD playback) plus the 910 has no DVD-audio. A closer but still not completely exact Denon model would be the DVD-1200.

The 1600 would have been the equivalent model, since they are essentially the same player. The 1600 was discontinued shortly after the RP82 was though, and was plagued by the same H02 error. The 1200 would have been the nearest comparable player. I agree, the 910 does not have the same picture quality of the RP82, plus the 910 has rather less than impressive build quality.

I would not have thought that on the image quality between the two. But those older panny owners do swear by them for a reason I suppose.....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just got the Denon-910 and it looks pretty good to me. I am still really dissapointed to lose the RP-82 though.
