for the people who've purchased from www.etronics.com
are you concerned that they are not an authorized JBL dealer? or are they?
i just found out that etronics has a retail outlet
store in lower manhattan.
the prices look great.
can i trust them?
are their products legit and not refurbished?
thanks in advance... i'm trying to calm some anxieties
about this online company.
i'm looking at their package deal with:
JBL NSP1 II, $269
JBL NSP1 II & PB10, $439
what do you guys think?
can i possibly negotiate the price down a bit??????

If you are in Manhattan go to B & H photo and video, they are authorized dealers and they have really good prices.

Laszlo,
thanks for the info.... but i do not like B&H.
their prices are similar to Best Buy and other retailers.

i have yet to see 'good deal' prices.

also, i dislike their customer service method.

i have to stand in three separate lines at that stores...
whereas it's one line in others.

thanks anyway.

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences with B&H support. I used to go very often to NY and always get something from them. I know these guys since they were in their first store(I don't remember the street, I don't go to NY for the last 3 years). I'm still buying from them and their service is pretty fast. About prices they have a loooot better than Best Buy, I just received a pair of S36's for $259 and the S-Center for $169 and free shipping, that was standard Fedex in THREE DAYS (I'm in Phoenix, AZ) is on their website or you can call and they'll give you those better prices. Is a little bit hidden in the website you have to click for the leyend that says "click for a better price", and they are JBL authorized dealers if you look for that brand.

give them another try.

If you buy from the intenet and make them ship it to you will you pay tax at all? Or may be NJ tax?

that's a good point laszlo.
but i was thinking of picking them up to
avoid the shipping time.
we all know how long ground shipping can take.
but i agree, either i won't be charged the tax or
be charged NJ's tax rate.
we'll see. i'd like to get both sets of the JBL and
Onkyo speakers for auditioning in my apartment.
thanks again.

I have purchased several products from etronics, and must say that I had a good experience with them, I wouldn't be worried.

Try BESTPRICEAUDIOVIDEO.COM for jbl speakers. Great prices and service. Much better then that other site. They carry JBL's Studio and Northridge series.

DO NOT BUY FROM ETRONICS!!
Sure their service is good if you don't have a problem with your purchase. I spent a month and a half last year trying to get them to send me another receiver when the first one didn't work. It was one of the most frustrating things I've ever gone through - every time I called I had to give them the same story again and every time I was promised that my new receiver would be shipped "by Friday".
When I finally got my new reciever I realized that it was a grey item, a general model, and not meant for the United States. I had to get adapters so that I could plug other components into the back of it. Fortunately I haven't had any problems with the receiver and I love how it performs. (Yamaha rxv-3000). However, I will NEVER buy anything from Etronics again.
I think I would have an aneurism if I had to hear "we're here for you before your purchase, and more importantly after" one more time as I am put on hold for 15 minutes.
DO NOT BUY FROM ETRONICS!!

sheldon,
sorry to hear about your bad experience with etronics.

that's what i was afraid of.
i certainly do not need that type of hassle, stress,
and frustration with a company like that.

luckily, there is the retail outlet store in lower manhattan which i can get to.

perhaps i can look into that, and check out their
return policy.

has anyone ever had to deal with "restocking fees"????
with etronics or any other place?
aren't those fees bs anyway?

thanks again sheldon for sharing your experience.

Try JandR if you want JBL speakers from an authorized dealer. I just ordered a pair of the JBL ND310 mains and a N-Center. I got them to pricematch Etronics and they actually beat the price by quite a bit. My order shipped in 2 days. Again, they are an authorized dealer as well.

I have to second Best Price Audio Video I ordered my
AR9's from them for just under $600.00 + $85.00 Shipping
(They are 130 pounds a pair) when Crutchfield was still
getting $999.00 + Truck Frieght (100+ dollars) Per pair...
When I got them they were brand new A Stock, Sealed and in
perfect condition.
I also have recently ordered from J&R, I am waiting for my
components to get here, just ordered them a couple days ago.
I called today to place another order with J&R I bought an
Onkyo M-282 100w RMS x 2 WRAT Power Amp for $240.00 Shipped
(That's like $220.00 for the amp) and Crutchfield gets $299.00
Plus $20.00 for shipping...
The fella I talked to at J&R was VERY helpful as well, we
talked about plasma sets and projectors and such, He actually
told me he would rather put me into a 3-5 thousand dollar
projector purchase rather than a 10-15K Plasma Set purchase
because of the longevity issues... Now that's what I call an
HONEST sales person!

David,

There was no restocking fee, but I did have to pay to ship the faulty reciever back which cost me something like 70 bucks if I remember right. Since you can actually go to a store, they may not be that bad of an option for you since you wouldn't have to pay for any return shipping. I do have to say that having a "grey" market item hasn't been an issue at all, and at the time I saved hundreds of dollars over what I would have spent locally.

local mid-fi shop: $1999.00
etronics price: $1079.00

That was tough to pass up.

that is a good point sheldon, i would be tempted myself.
but after hearing how JandR will pricematch and beat etronic's prices... i may have to go there.
also, JandR is an authorized dealer! so that is
reassuring.
however, i will have to absorb the NYC's 8.25% tax.
B&H photo's prices are not terrible either... i'll
see if they will go into a price war over my business.
:D
a side note: i forgot who... one of the three just lowered their price for the PB10 to $184.99 today.
JandR does not offer an NSP1 II & PB10 package, but if
they are willing to sell those components for less than $439, i will be their new customer.
(etronics advertised this set for $439)
