I am considering purchasing the Malata region free dvd player for South Park and Friends season-by-season on dvd. Then I started to realize that that is an awful lot of money for south park and friends. What I was wondering is what are some classic movies that are not available in region 1 but are in other regions. I am specifically looking for horror flicks. Basically just titles that you feel would justify the purchase of a 300 dollar dvd player. Thanks
    Sorry about the previous Sig.

Ring and Ring 2--a pair of chilling Japanese horrors that Spielberg is apparently suppressing in R1 for his own versions.
La Reine Margot (Isabelle Adjani's finest hour)
    South Park done right
The Prisoner without the screwed up soundtrack (though I hear A&E has since fixed that, I still had the complete set in R2 a year before R1, and at about 40% of the cost of the A&E set).
Mike Oldfield Live Tubular Bells II & III
    The restored Metropolis
The original Fantomas films by Feuillade (5 movies on 2 discs)
(unfortunately the latter 2 don't have English subtitles, but so it goes. The Metropolis ones are easily available on the net, and the Fantomas ones are short and far enough between that Babelfish can handle them).
    Laurel & Hardy sound shorts
These are just off the top of my head. If the Malata is too steep, get an el cheapo Apex from Wal-Mart or Sam's and spend $15 on a chip from the nerd-out site to defeat region coding and RCE. Total cost under $120. There's too much great stuff out there to be limited to R1.
