Eraserhead DVD delayed! (1 Viewer)

I just received an email from davidlynch.com stating that the Eraserhead DVD has been delayed several months due to its having failed some quality control tests. Just FYI.

Weren't some of these released? Does anyone have any idea what kind of QC errors there were? I was just thinking of putting an order in for this.

I don't know if any Eraserhead DVDs were released. Here's the full text of the email:

Dear DL.COM Store Customer,
We are sorry to report that the release of the Eraserhead DVD has been
pushed back a couple more months. The DVD failed some quality control tests
and therefore some changes have to be made before it is mass produced. You
will be notified as soon as it is available in the Store to be purchased. We
hope it will be well worth the wait and apologize for the delay.

What was the intended release date ... and do you have to be a member of the site to buy it?

Chris, "Eraserhead" was originally scheduled for April, then was tentatively marked for this week. You don't have to be a member to order from the store (I'm not and got the "Short Films" DVD a couple of weeks ago). Too bad-- I was kind of hoping to snag that and the "Blue Bob" CD together to save on shipping. Well, better done right than not at all.

I asked to be put on the mailing list for notification about the dvd release, but haven't received this email yet.

Good, this gives me more time to decide whether or not it's worth the exorbitant price that Lynch is asking.

Thanks for letting us know Steve. While I always wish I could buy it now, I really respect Lynch's absolute perfectionism over quality. I know that Eraserhead will be an excellent DVD when it is finally released.
