LS11000 is better. Has laser light source, 4-way pixel shifting for true 4K. The only thing the 5050UB has to offer that the other one doesn't is 3D capability.

@ng4ever, Thank you for starting this important thread and to Mark-P for your support with very good replies/information!

I'm also interested in these two Epson Laser projectors. I'm always enjoy learning everything about most if not all video equipment.

Now that you got me started; once I learn more with my technical contacts at Epson I hope to be able to contribute with helpful information if I have anything worthy to pass along.

What about the difference in contrast between the two please ?
Epson specification claims:
5050UB 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio (auto iris on)
LS11000 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio (auto iris on)
LS12000 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio (auto iris on)

also of interest is the brightness where the 5050UB does appear to have a slight advantage:
5050UB 2600 lumens
LS11000 2500 lumens
LS12000 2700 lumens

I should probably also add that I currently own a LS12000 and it is by far the best PJ I've ever owned. It's super-bright and does HDR very well (by projection standards). Formerly I owned the Epson 5040 UB.

I would get the LS12000 instead but it is sadly out of my price range :(
