I think we're heading to a big crash course for Vince. And it's about time.

The cartoon that got pitched to Drama seems like the best offer he's going to get.. and I thought it was something that in this format would sell. Vince is quickly getting himself out of any real work.

While the show has ocassionally had serious stories over the years, having Vince get caught up in drugs seems like a story from an entirely different series to me. We've seen the guys drink and do drugs since the first episode and it's always just been a way for them to have fun rather than being a serious problem. While years of doing drugs can certainly lead to addiction (and you can argue that it's fair to show the effects of the guys' actions), I think I like the idea of the show just being more of a fun thing than getting into more serious areas.

Funny, Travis, my problem with the ep (which was mostly pretty funny by the low bar set this season) is that Vince's career at its apex could be stalled by a porn star, tequila and some cocaine. Don't Christian Bale, Charlie Sheen, et al continue to work? Hollywood will employ anybody with talent. Mel Gibson will work again. Even Jerry Jones telling Ari that the NFL cares about its reputation was comical. I guess you can only do so much in 30 min eps, but no way Hollywood drops Vince that fast. Still, one of the funnier eps in a while. Good to see Billy back in a not so annoying way.

Jerry Jones saying it was even more laughable. I kept thinking:

Wait.. Jerry Jones.. who signed PacMan, beat a stripper down Jones?

Jerry Jones of Michael Irvin drug connection fame?

Or, the NFL of multiple murder trials in the last five years?

???????

That entire sequence was completely laughable. I mean, completely laughable. And I tend to agree, Vince's quick addiction wouldn't even remotely derail his career. They'd wait until he got on set and screwed it. Even Lindsey Lohan kept getting scripts, what got her was her erratic behavior on set (Georgia Rules).

I believe that the NFL would have a (double) standard for their prospective owners. They don't mind hiring arch criminals to play for them but if someone was trying to buy a team and a story came out about them like that, the NFL would act like they have standards and Ari would be out.

As for Vince, I can buy that one director might think "I don't need this guy" especially since the script is good and he can presumably get another big star to fill the role. Like others have said though, it's not like Vince's career would be over.

Finally caught up on all 7 episodes over the weekend. I can say without a doubt that this season is leaps and bounds above last season and I'm actually enjoying the show again. Great to see Ari finally being his old self(he was practically invisible last year) and the storylines seem to be much more interesting as well. Still don't think the show is as good as it was the first 3 or 4 seasons, but it's at least worth watching again.

Again, I agree with Travis. It is completely realistic that Ari would be out as an OWNER given the scandal. Same with Vince. It's one role...of course it doesn't mean his career is over.

I don't remember, have we seen any more references to the Ferrari movie Vince supposedly did? All I remember is seeing a movie poster of it in E's office.

Not sure if this is really a spoiler, but I'll spoilerize anyway just in case. It's just speculation based on an actor's upcoming schedule.

Are they setting it up for Scott Caan to take part of the fall for Vince's downward spiral? Caan is set to star in the new Hawaii Five-0 series. Personally, I've come to like the Scott Caan character and hope they can find a way to keep him on.

I was talking to my Doctor yesterday, and he had an interesting perspective in the show.

He says Vince is showing symptoms of brain damage, he thinks resulting from the car crash stunt. That would sure bring a little more logic to the story arc this year.

I think I mentioned that in an earlier post. If I didn't, I definitely thought it. That whole crash scene was very strange the way it was shot.

I really hope they don't go down that road though...that would be WAY too dark for this type of show.

We are apparently headed for some sort of disaster in VInce's career. My bet is he gets pulled over/busted. The huge back of coke at the end was laughable.

Unless you're Wonderland murders-era John Holmes or you're planning a party for a large number of cocaine addicts, I agree. In all fairness though, Vince uses alot of cocaine, he seems to be hanging out with people who frequently use cocaine and he probably got a good deal on a large amount so maybe it's not out of the realm of believability that he'd have that much on hand.

Well I did point out to my wife that if she didn't keep trying to curtail his blackberry, work calls usage he would've known about the meeting Dana was having with the NFL.

So it was her fault he had the fit in the restaurant. ;)

Yea Ari's a douche, but shes more than happy to spend the money he makes, buy nice stuff, go on vacations, etc and it was her who nagged him into firing Liz Grant, which started the mess hes in.

so it seems like of shitty for her to call him on his BS now when she knew what he was getting into and has a;lways enjoyed reaping the benefits of what he does.

That was a HUGE bag of coke, too much even for someone that does it a lot. That looks to be like 2 oz of cocaine.

Ari's wife bugs a little this season and it started when she tried to tell her husband how to do his job, that's never a good thing. Most everything else she could of just gotten fed up with, but you can't tell the boss who to hire and fire.
