    john,
first off welcome to the forum, glad to have you here!
Seeing as you live in KC, I work in a custom cabinet shop here in KC and can probably help you with your plans for an entertainment center. Im not sure how elaborate you would want but I might have to get some $ for the effort.
    email me @ [email protected]
I need more details from you first.

Please post your results online, gentlemen. I've been looking for ent center ideas and I'm interested in what you come up with.
Unfortunately, I don't live in KC.

THERE MIGHT BE A SHAREWARE OR FREEWARE PROGRAM YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AND DEMO JUST FOR ONE PROJECT. iVE GOT AUTOCAD SO I WONT USE ANYTHING ELSE. BUT JUST TO LAYOUT YOUR CABINET, THEY MIGHT WORK. JOHN, ANOTHER SUGGESTION IS TO PRICE ALL YOUR MATERIALS FIRS SO YOU DONT SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAD WISHED.

Several years ago Wood Magazine published a set of plans in their magazine. I actually built this set. You may try and archive search on thier site. IF you cannot find it I think I may still have the book. I can send pictures of the one I built and try to scan the magazine if I can find it.

I TOO have been searching for plans to build an entertainment center. I'm momentarily stumped. No, I don't think the flexy rack will work for me as I am looking for something with doors. John, I would love to see what you've ended up with.
I was able to find plans here:
    http://store.yahoo.com/plansnow/furniture.html
I particularly like this one, this way, I'm not limited to the size of TV:

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks.

    Steve,
Please be careful scanning and distributing published items!I'm sure you're aware of applicable laws, it's just that I'm a teacher that has to be ultra careful about that kind of thing and wouldn't want a fellow HTF'er getting a knock on the door.

    Regards,
    Chris

The Handyman Club of America recently had a magazine which detailed the building of an entertainment center. It inclueded a sliding rack and doors to cover the tv. They might have the plans on their website.
